Killing Them Softly, previously titled Cogan's Trade, is an upcoming American crime film directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Brad Pitt. The film is based on the 1974 novel of the same name by George V. Higgins. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 21, 2012. The film has been selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

plot:

Jackie Cogan (Pitt) is a point man (a person who patrols ahead) for a hitman. Cogan begins investigating a heist of the mob's assets.
