The Ides of March is an upcoming 2011 American drama film directed by George Clooney from a screenplay by Clooney and Grant Heslov. It stars Clooney, Marisa Tomei, Paul Giamatti, Ryan Gosling and Evan Rachel Wood. It is an adaptation of the play Farragut North.In October 2010, Variety reported that Clooney signed on to produce, direct and star in the film adaptation of the Beau Willimon Broadway play Farragut North. Exclusive Media Group, Cross Creek Pictures, Smoke House Pictures and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions financed the film.[2] Filming in Cincinnati, Ohio began in February 2011 in downtown Cincinnati at Fountain Square, Cincinnati, Over-the-Rhine historic district, Northside, Cincinnati, Mount Lookout, Cincinnati, Xavier University, other neighborhoods and nearby Miami University.[4][5] Principal photography will also take place in Downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan. On March 14, filming began at the University of Michigan and included 1,000 extras.[6]
