Run Silent, Run Deep is a novel published first during 1955 by then-Commander Edward L. Beach, Jr.. The name refers to "silent running," a submarine stealth tactic. It is also the name of a 1958 movie based on the same novel. The story describes World War II submarine warfare, and deals with themes of vengeance, endurance, courage, loyalty, and honor, and how these can be tested during time of war.
